A gas cooking stove maker boasts that its patent stove model could save up to 25% of liquefied gas and 20% of cooking time relative to those of a traditional model, and prices it twice as much as the price of its basic model.
It calculates that the price premium could be reimbursed within five years through the saving of gas expenditures of an ordinary family cooking three meals a day.
This implies most of the money that could be saved from gas expenditures will be taken by the maker far beforehand, and if a family cooks fewer than three meals a day, there is no way that the reimbursement will be fulfilled through the lifetime of the stove.
When you add interest rate factor into the calculation this fact becomes even more evident, unless gas prices soar rapidly after you bought the patent stove; and if gas prices go down, you bear all the risks.
In general, price for the patent stove will be unlikely to go down, unless a competing model appears in the market and sold at a lower price.
For the maker, if you are smart enough, you'll know this pricing policy clearly declares that all the money saved belongs to them, customers are entitled only the sublime merits of saving energy and cooking time, not the money value.
