Google provides a little incentive to encourage website owners and bloggers to put its advertisement widgets onto their web pages or blogs to show selected ads.
The ads shown on each web or blog page are accommodated to its page content.
I think this strategy will be strikingly successful. Because first it makes the most difficult part of advertisement, focusing on the exact potential customers avoiding wasting promotion resources broadly and blindly, becomes a reality.
Second, this move surely employed Google's core competition competences in web search and analysis, which makes other competitors hard to catch up.
Third, in a web connected world innumerable sub-interest groups or communities formed very easily and showed diverse characters. Traditional mass promotion couldn't be fine tuned to cope with this trend; doing so would not be cost effective.
Forth, in this move Google seeks to attract ads from these web users too, hence Google sees individual web users not only as service providers, but also as potential ads customers. This would create a win-win situation between Google and web users.
For all these reasons, I think Google showed its creativity in embracing web 2.0, and possibly would make a huge turbulence in the ecosystem of blogosphere and internet world.
